In the morning, the palki (palquin) of Maa Ganga arrived at Gangotri Dham from Mukbaha. The temple rituals were conducted with traditional prayers accompanied by the tunes of the Rajputana Rifles Band. Flower petals were showered from a helicopter over the temple during the ceremony.
Later, the gates of Yamunotri Dham were opened at 11:55 AM after the Yamuna palki reached the temple. After prayers, the gates were opened, allowing pilgrims to begin their journey. Following Gangotri and Yamunotri, the doors of Kedarnath Dham will open on May 2nd, and the Badrinath Dham doors will open on May 4th.

Kedarnath Dham Opens: Temple Adorned with 108 Quintals of Flowers, 10,000 Pilgrims Visit on Day One
The doors of Kedarnath Dham were officially opened on Friday, marking the continuation of the Char Dham Yatra. As the gates opened, devotees were blessed with a view of the eternal Akhand Jyoti (uninterrupted flame) inside the temple. The first to arrive at the temple were the priests from Karnataka’s Veerashaiva Lingayat community, led by the chief Rawal, Bhimeshankar. Afterward, the Bhishma Shringar, placed on Baba Kedarnath six months ago, was removed. The temple was beautifully decorated with 108 quintals of flowers, including roses and marigolds from countries like Nepal, Thailand, and Sri Lanka.
On the first day, nearly 10,000 pilgrims visited the temple. To manage the crowd efficiently, a token system has been implemented for the darshan. Devotees will be able to continue visiting the temple for the next six months. If the weather remains favorable from June to August, over 25 lakh devotees are expected to visit Kedarnath Dham this year.
The Char Dham Yatra officially began on April 30th (Akshay Tritiya) with the opening of the gates of Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham. Badrinath Dham opened on May 4th, and Kedarnath Dham is now open for darshan.

Badrinath Dham Doors Opened with Military Band, 10,000 Pilgrims Arrive
On Sunday morning at 6 AM, the doors of Badrinath Dham were opened to mark the beginning of the Char Dham Yatra. After performing Ganesh Puja, the temple’s chief priest (Rawal) opened the gates. In the first two hours after the gates were opened, over 10,000 pilgrims had already arrived at the Badrinath Temple. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also performed prayers and took part in the darshan (viewing) of Lord Badrinath. Pilgrims will be able to visit Lord Badrinath and perform darshan for the next six months.
On May 3rd, the palki (palquin) of Lord Badrinath along with the ceremonial palkis of Adi Guru Shankaracharya, Kubera, and Uddhava reached the temple.
